Question of the Day:

If people who read books on paper are called bookworms, then are people who
listen to cassette books called tapeworms?

Listen Up!

Audio books are considered to be the fastest-growing segment in the publishing industry, growing 75 percent since 1995 and representing $2 billion in annual sales, according to the Audio Publishers Association (APA).

My eBay ID was: Carinf

Sorry folks, but I have suspended listing on eBay.

In times past I was their biggest fan and spent a lot of time trying to convince people that no, eBay does deal with fraud quickly and that eBay is a safe place to do business. Wow, I was an idiot!

Now, I know there are a number of sellers that I will continue to deal with and a number of buyers that I met through eBay that I look forward to dealing with in the future but until eBay does something to vet sellers and increase the amount of demographics collected about sellers (and likewise, buyers) than it's a scammers paradise. For whatever reason, eBay will continue to hide the identities of scammers under the guise of "privacy", thumb their noses at good, upstanding sellers while turning their heads to fraud and collecting their ever increasing fees.

I recently found out the hard way that people who get the boot off eBay only become more aggressive under assumed identities. I found out that once you get the boot off eBay under your own ID then all it takes is a naive relative, a sucker friend or a credit card to obtain another ID and be back up and selling! The moron in question was up THE VERY NEXT DAY after he literally ripped off several dozen people through shilling. Then, under a hunch that he was operating under a new ID, I used my buying ID to purchase one of his auctions. Then the box arrives, looks legit - that is until I notice an old mailing label crumbled up and included in the packing material containing the name and address of the shiller in question!

What would you do?

I mean, I want to list of eBay. Back in the day it used to be a great venue. I met a number of really great friends through eBay but recently the prices are nothing and the headaches are just huge. Believe it or not, in times past, I did make a fair amount of money selling on eBay but the incidents of fraud (both buying and selling) are simply off the chart and I just can't continue to do business like that.

So for the time being, it's just me and my site...
